Mecc Alte being thirty years experienced in manufacturing synchronous generators is proud to offer a machine based on a new concept able to satisfy simultaneously a broad range of technical requirements: extremely high motor starting capability due to a three phase compounding system and very close voltage regulation by means of an electronic regulator AVIR. (This AVIR can be added to the machine at any time without the need of skilled technicians or in depth tests or setting of the machine). This dual regulation system and electronic regulator AVIR are protected by patents n. 85669 A and 85526 A (International Patents pending).
The ECSN-ECSO generators are brushless with a rotating field with salient poles and damping cage; static skewed armature with shortened pitch winding; they can be single or three phase; at 1500 or 1800 rpm (50-60 Hz) four poles. Alternatively 3000 or 3600 rpm (50-60 Hz) two poles. The system is basically a three phase compound design, with the possibility of inserting the electronic AVIR by means of a simple connector. No modification or extra setting of the control system is required because the AVIR is a bi-directional electronic regulator capable of adding or subtracting excitation depending upon the needs of the machine. The unique feature of this regulation system is to provide fail safe operation.
When and if the AVIR fails the machine automatically reverts to its compound regulation system guaranteeing continuous function. The AVIR also provides protection against under speed, by reducing the voltage in relation to the speed, when the speed falls below 10% of the nominal. Thereby avoiding the dangers of overheating in the inductor when in a reduced speed situation.
Strict quality control of the basic components insures a nearly unlimited life. ECSN-ECSO alternators are built as per following specifications: CEI 2-3, EN 60034-1, IEC 34-1, NEMA MG 1-2009 part 32, VDE 0530, BS 4999-5000, NF C 51.111.
